McDonald's and CPK among chains that removed spinach

September 18, 2006

Reuters: McDonald's Corp., California Pizza Kitchen and other U.S. restaurant chains said they removed spinach from their menus after it was linked last week to more than 100 cases of E. coli. Last week, the National Restaurant Association recommended that restaurants remove "fresh and fresh-processed spinach and other fresh produce items that include spinach" from their menus.

A CPK spokeswoman for said it had pulled spinach off of a white pizza on its menu, but was still serving the item without spinach.
