Mod Pizza's MOD Squad is growing; the chain, which opened with 17 employees —  AKA MOD Squaders —  in 2008, in Seattle, has grown 100 times larger with 1,700 employees. This growth allowed MOD to expand to 62 communities across the U.S., according to a company press release, and reinforce its goal of positive change in communities, employees’ lives and the food service industry.

“When you create an environment where people are motivated by a purpose beyond profit, it is incredible to watch what they can accomplish,” MOD CEO and co-founder Scott Svenson said in the release. “While MOD pioneered the rapidly emerging made-on-demand pizza category, we judge our success not by the number of stores we open or the amount of revenue we generate, but by the number of lives we impact – which is why we are celebrating the growth of the MOD Squad.”

MOD also announced that it will to open 15 new stores and hire an additional 450 team members by the end of September.
