Two Boots is opening its newest location at The Fitzgerald, a mixed-use apartment community in Baltimore's Mount Vernon neighborhood, and will celebrate with a grand opening party June 1.
"I came to Baltimore in the early 80's to work on a screenplay, fell in love with the town, and have maintained my crush on it ever since," said Phil Hartman, owner, Two Boots. "We look forward to contributing to the great culinary – and artistic – traditions in Baltimore, and are especially thrilled to be in the midst of such a vibrant and creative community at The Fitzgerald."
Two Boots, known for blending Italian and Cajun flavors in its pizza, currently has nine other locations, including seven in its hometown New York City, one in Los Angeles, and one in Bridgeport, Conn.
Two Boots was created in the East Village in 1987 by two independent filmmakers and features a variety of thin crust slices named for offbeat cultural icons, including "The Newman" (from Seinfeld) and "The Dude," (from "The Big Lebowski").
The pizza joint also has developed a slice exclusive to Baltimore, the "Old Bay Beast," which includes crab, crawfish, Andouille sausage, jalapenos and mozzarella.
The new unit includes sidewalk outdoor dining, free delivery, and live music on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
Two Boots Baltimore has engaged local artists to design the interior with screen paintings of local artist Jenny Campbell and an installation from Baltimore's American Visionary Arts Museum.
The Fitzgerald – a LEED Silver community developed by Bozzuto Development and now managed by Bozzuto Management – is comprised of 275 luxury apartments, 24,000 square feet of street-level retail and a 1,245 space public parking garage.
