DAYTON, Ohio—Police are investigating a Feb. 11 incident in which a delivery driver was shot several times in a possible attempted robbery.
According to the Dayton Daily News, the unidentified delivery driver, who police believe is in his 50s, works for Milano's Pizzeria. The driver was shot in his chest, arm and leg after delivering an order to a house, said Sgt. Kelly Hamilton.
Milano's Pizzeria manager Barbara Vaughn said the driver has worked there for 10 years. After the shooting, he came back to the store, sat and then slumped to the floor. A co-worker dialed 911 and the victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is in serious condition.
Witnesses told police they heard gunshots but didn't get a good description of the shooter, who may have had an accomplice. Investigators also think the victim was shot during a robbery attempt, but they had not determined whether the assailants were trying to take the victim's money or his car.
This isn't the first time a Milano's employee has been wounded by gunfire. In 1999 a cashier was shot in the hip when two gunmen burst into one of its stores to rob it.
