Albany Business Review: Two quick-service donut shop operators will introduce a new sandwich shop and pizza restaurant combo to the cities of Albany, N.Y., and Hartford, Conn., and their surrounding areas.
Tom Burke and Jerry Burke have the rights to develop the combination D'Angelo sandwich shops and Papa Gino's pizzerias, the first of which is slated for a former gas station in Albany.
Papa Gino's Holding Corp. of Dedham, Mass., is the parent company of both D'Angelo and Papa Gino's. It has 375 restaurants and is in the midst of a push to expand the brands beyond New England.
Papa Gino's serves pizza, salads, pasta and subs, while D'Angelo serves a menu of sub sandwiches, soups and salads. The brand is known for its grilled offerings, including cheese steaks and chicken stir-fry subs.
Both concepts use a quick-casual format featuring counter ordering instead of sit-down service.
