Papa John's founder, John Schnatter, announced that his John H. Schnatter Family Foundation will give $1 million to help small businesses recover from the many setbacks triggered by COVID-19 pandemic business restrictions, according to a television news station in Schnatter's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

According to WAVE-TV, the money will be distributed as gifts to some small business owners directly, as well as unnamed nonprofit groups that are targeting economic recovery.

Schnatter will also match proceeds from sales of custom merchandise and a new website, which the foundation will give to other charities that help small business workers and survival, the report said.
