Papa John's hires away Panera IT leader
Papa John's has hired former Panera Bread IT and Enterprise Architecture VP Mike Nettles to be the brands SVP and chief Information and digital officer, according to a news release. Nettles brings more than 27 years of business and technology leadership experience to the Louisville-based pizza brand. He will report to COO Steve Ritchie in his new role.
Papa John's recently announced that 55 percent of its total domestic sales now come through digital platforms and 60 percent of those digital transactions come from mobile devices, which a news release said is unprecedented in other national pizza chains. Nettles will continue the brand's focus on quality, utility and ease-of-use for customers.
"Not only is Mike a great cultural fit for our company, but he is also a proven leader in the digital and retail sectors that will help us deliver a better customer experience and elevate our digital platforms," Richie said in the news release.
Papa John's recently obtained Technomic's 2017 Chain Restaurant Consumer Choice Award for the use of tech in improving experience, according to the release. At Panera, Nettles drove IT architecture and processes for the Panera 2.0 business model as well as leading the technical design, development and implementation of digital and in-café Panera assets.
