Papa John's International may have trouble stateside these days, but the brand continues to expand in Central Asia, with the opening this week of its first location in Kazakhstan. With the new location in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Papa John's is now in 46 countries and territories around the globe, a news release said.
Ultimately, the franchisee — PJ Western — plans to open 16 Kazakhstan locations in addition to its other Papa John's restaurants in Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Poland. A second Almaty restaurant will also open in October, and the brand will continue to expand in Eastern Europe, as well.
Papa John's International is looking for potential franchisees in Paris, France, as well as Belgium and Denmark, as well, according to the release.
