Papa John's Pizza intros 'Papa Cards' for the holidays

November 21, 2005

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Papa John's jumped on the holiday gift-card bandwagon by delivering 1 million Papa Cards to more than 5,300 retail outlets throughout the United States on Nov. 21.

According to a news release, the gift cards are available in $10 and $25 amounts, and are redeemable for food and drink at more than 2,600 participating Papa John's restaurants. Papa Cards also are available for purchase online

Participating retailers selling Papa Cards include multiple supermarkets and convenience-stores.

"Instead of braving the mall crowds looking for gifts, our customers can now purchase Papa Cards while waiting in line at the grocery or convenience store or online," said Jim Ensign, vice president of marketing communications for Papa John's. "Shopping just doesn't get any easier than that."

A recent survey commissioned by Yahoo! Small Business and conducted by Harris Interactive, found that 83 percent of shoppers said they would shop for holiday gifts online. Papa John's is the only national pizza company offering online sales at all domestic restaurant locations.
