Papa John's International Inc. leadership said the brand delivered its third consecutive month of double-digit sales growth in North America, along with what CEO Rob Lynch qualified as "strong growth internationally."

The company relayed its June and preliminary estimated Q2 results in a news release that showed comp sales growth of systemwide North American locations of 28% for the three months that ended June 28, which comprises the company's second quarter.

That number was led by a strong showing from North American franchised locations that demonstrated a 29.6% comp sales growth, while company-owned domestic locations reported 22.6% growth. International system-wide sales grew 5.3% for the period, according to the estimated results.

"The events of the past few months have accelerated Papa John's transformation into an innovation-driven organization, contributing to our strong business momentum today," Lynch said in the release. "This focus on innovation has enabled initiatives like 'No Contact Delivery' and Papadias, as well as an exciting pipeline of upcoming products."

Additionally, the company said that now 225 of its 2,100 international franchised stores are still temporarily closed to comply with government mandates in Europe and Latin America. Meanwhile, some international markets, like the U.K., remain open predominantly for delivery only.

In North America, almost all traditional restaurants remain open and fully operational. A number of non-traditional restaurants located in universities and stadiums are temporarily closed, the brand said.
