Papa John's raises $400K for Oklahoma tornado relief efforts

June 5, 2013

Papa John's fundraiser for the Oklahoma tornado recovery efforts was held May 26 and raised approximately $400,000 in donations. On that day, $1 from every pizza order was donated to the Salvation Army's Oklahoma recovery efforts.

"We are thrilled that America rallied to action with our offer," said John Schnatter, Papa John's founder, chairman and CEO. "The money we raised, in addition to donations of food, labor and other necessities by the Papa John's family, will go a long way in helping the community recover from this tragic event."

Jason Opie, franchisee of 11 Papa John's restaurants in Oklahoma, including one in Moore, distributed hundreds of pizzas to aid workers and displaced residents. Papa John's also deployed a mobile pizza kitchen to the area, which served nearly 10,000 pizzas to the people and aid workers in Moore.
