Papa John's signs expansion deal in Colombia

December 7, 2016

Papa John's International has signed a development agreement with Grupo Nutresa for expansion in Columbia. A news release said the International Trade Administration has designated the food and beverage sector as holding the best growth opportunities in the South American nation.

Grupo Nutresa, which purchased PJ Col S.A.S. in 2015, has agreed to open 28 more units over eight years in Medellin, Cartagena and Barranquilla. That's in addition to the 29 Papa John's restaurants it already operates in the country.

"Our investment in Papa John's has exceeded our expectations and we are continuing our momentum by planning for additional units in our country," said PJ Col Managing Director Felipe Baquero. "More units means more jobs in the local communities."

Papa John's International is also seeking franchisees in Brazil, the Caribbean and Honduras.
