SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona is partnering with Peter Piper Pizza to launch a first-of-its-kind recruitment initiative. Three recruitment events were held by Peter Piper Pizza during October and November to support Big Brothers Big Sisters to serve Phoenix-area youth. Some 600 children in the area are in need of mentors.
According to a news release, all three events were held at Peter Piper Pizza restaurants, and participants were served pizza and beverages at no charge. Children also received free tokens for the restaurant's game room.
Peter Piper Pizza also made a $20,000 donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters this year and has held a special volunteer drive among associates at their headquarters in Scottsdale. Also, they generated nearly $20,000 more in contributions through a company-wide Bowl for Kids' Sake fundraising event in October; nearly 200 associates participated and wore crazy hats as they bowled.
"Young people are an integral part of our restaurants, and Big Brothers Big Sisters offers them friendship, guidance and encouragement that truly makes a difference in their lives," said Frank Sbordone, president of Peter Piper Pizza. "We strive to provide a positive atmosphere for families at Peter Piper Pizza, and we welcome Bigs and Littles into our dining rooms and game rooms as a fun place to share laughter and build relationships."
