Pizza Capers inching toward goal

December 6, 2010

Australian chain Pizza Capers kicked off an expansion drive in 2008 with the goal of operating a network of 100 stores within two years.

According to Inside Retailing, that goal is very close to coming to fruition. Through franchising, Pizza Capers has expanded to 95 units across Australia. For measure, the chain also has a unit open in Singapore.

The company has upped the ante on its original goal, now eyeing growth in Shanghai, China; Penang and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2011, and hopes to add even more outlets in Australia.

Scott Geiszler and Anthony Russo opened the first Pizza Capers in Queensland in 2000. With the latest openings, Geiszler said the company is now a step closer to becoming the most successful pizza brand in Australia.
