Pizza delivery driver critically wounded in shooting

January 19, 2004

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—A pizza delivery driver from Gino's Pizza & Spaghetti House was shot while on the job Jan. 19.

According to the Charleston Gazette, a customer placed an order with Gino's and said he would pick it up at the intersection of Donnally and McCormick streets.

At about 8 p.m., the driver arrived and was approached by three males, who shot the driver at least once in the back while he was still in his car. The rear driver's side window and a window at a nearby home also were shot out.

The victim drove himself to a nearby hotel, called police and was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical condition before surgery late that night.
