Pizza driver hurt in shootout with thief

The Charlotte Observer: A Charlotte, N.C., delivery driver was shot on April 13 while making a run.

Police said the Papa John's driver arrived at an apartment complex where a man with a gun was waiting for him. The man asked for money and then shot the driver in the shoulder. The driver returned fire at the suspect, but police do not know if the suspect was hit.

"All of a sudden, I heard three or four consecutive shots, bang, bang, bang. I see there's the pizza delivery man. I ran to him and said, 'Just relax, breathe,'" said Jason Pallante, a resident of the apartment complex.
