MARIETTA, Ga.—Cortez Lornell Carter was found guilty on April 23 of three counts of murder and two counts of robbery in the Oct. 26, 2002, death of Paul Kevin Wojcik, a 45-year-old Pizza Hut delivery driver. (See Pizza Hut worker killed for $15.)
According to the Marietta Daily Journal, Carter, who was 22 at the time of the murder, was sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years. The robbery netted him $15.
On the night Wojcik was murdered, his body was found in a vacant apartment where he had been sent on a delivery. He was severely beaten before being strangled, authorities said.
Wojcik had taken the job at Pizza Hut to bring in extra income to support his wife and three children.
