Pizza Hut hires 'Twintern,' solitics title via Twitter
October 22, 2009
Pizza Hut is turning to its Twitter and Facebook fans to help name their Twintern-turned-full-timer.
This summer, Pizza Hut made national headlines when the company began a nationwide search for a Twittering intern -- a "Twintern" -- to tweet for the company and assist with social media activities. The campaign generated interest from candidates across the country, and in the end, Alexa Robinson from UNC-Chapel Hill was brought on board to help manage the @pizzahut Twitter account. The company just announced that Pizza Hut has extended a full-time job offer to Robinson.
"As Pizza Hut's Twintern, I've been able to connect with so many interesting people who share an affinity for our pizza, pasta and wings," Robinson said. "I'm excited that I'm now a member of the team and that I can continue to support the conversation around Pizza Hut. I'm proud to be a part of such an important priority for the team at Pizza Hut's offices."
From now until Nov. 30, 2009, the online social community is invited to submit the craziest or off-the-wall ideas for Robinson's new job title. Robinson will select her favorite consumer-generated submission and put it on her business card. As an added bonus, the person who submits the winning entry will be awarded pizza for a year (in the form of $599 in Pizza Hut gift cards) from Pizza Hut. To submit an idea, log on to Twitter.com and post a comment directed to @pizzahut with your suggestion, tagging it with the hashtag #PizzaHutTitle.
