Pizza Hut outlines Super Sunday stats

January 29, 2008

DALLAS — Each year, Pizza Hut handles 2.5 million calls on Super Bowl Sunday, making game day Pizza Hut's busiest day of the year. The orders, 60 percent to 70 percent more than those received on a typical Sunday, are enough to cover at least 50 football fields with pizza, the company said.

There are 6,200 Pizza Hut restaurants across the United States.

Pizza Hut compiled the following statistics about Super Bowl Sunday:
  • More than 80 percent of game day orders occur before halftime.
  • Pizza Hut expects to sell more slices of its new Crunchy Cheesy Crust pizza on Super Bowl Sunday than there are people in Chicago.
  • If each slice of Pizza Hut pizza sold on Super Bowl Sunday were laid end to end, the pizza trail would stretch from Pizza Hut headquarters in Dallas, Texas, to Glendale, Ariz., and back to either New York City or Boston for the victory parade.
  • Pizza Hut employees working on Super Bowl Sunday could fill the University of Phoenix stadium twice.
  • If every Pizza Hut employee working on Super Bowl Sunday laid head to toe, they could cover two-thirds of the distance between Giants Stadium and Gillette Stadium.
