Pizza Hut to donate meals for tweets
September 28, 2009
Pizza Hut is pledging four meals to World Hunger Relief, a campaign that supports the United Nations World Food Programme and hunger relief agencies across the globe, for every Twitter user who passes on and "re-tweets" the link to the Pizza Hut World Hunger donation page.
"Global hunger has reached epic proportions this year - reaching more than 1 billion hungry people around the world," said Pizza Hut president Scott Bergren. "At Pizza Hut, our goal is to get the word out about what can be done to help feed the hungry. We're asking our customers to help us spread the word through a simple tweet, and in exchange we will provide meals for World Hunger Relief."
To help, participants can post a tweet on Twitterthat includes the link http://ow.ly/qWn8and the hashtag #pizzahut, and Pizza Hut will donate four meals to the hungry. The donation period started at midnight Central time on Sept. 28 and will end at midnight Central time on Oct. 31. Donations will be made for the first 25,000 tweets, providing a total of 100,000 meals.
