Pizza Inn is adding "a Twist" to its Treats for Troops project this year.
Participating restaurants are now urging guests to drop off a bag of unwrapped, individuals-sized candy to be included in care packages addressed to military personnel stationed around the world. The bags are being accepted through Nov. 2 and those who donate one will be treated to a free Pepperoni Twist.
"We're proud to reach outside the four walls of our restaurants to share a little hometown love with the brave men and women standing on the wall to defend our freedoms," CEO Randy Gier said in a news release. "But we can't do it alone, so we're calling on communities nationwide to join with us and Operation Shoebox to offer this special salute to our troops and to let them know they are in our thoughts and prayers."
Operation Shoebox specializes in sending care packages with snacks, personal care items, entertainment and thank-you notes to men and women stationed around the world, the release said.
Pizza Inn guests can personalize their donations by including a thank-you card that may also be shared in real-time by uploading a picture of the card to Facebook and Instagram while using the hashtag #pizzainn.
Pizza Inn customers can also get five Pepperoni Twists for the promotional price of $5 when they purchase any medium or large pizza through Nov. 26, or get 10 twists, a medium Cheesebread and medium chocolate chip Pizzert for $19.99.
