Canadian-based Pizza Pizza Limited has launched “new and improved” chicken wings at all of its locations.
The wings feature four new sauces, are prepared through a new process and are being sold at a new price.
New flavors include Forty Creek Whisky BBQ, Caribbean Jerk, Chipotle Amarillo and Sesame Ginger Teriyaki Thai. These profiles join the existing flavor lineup of Sweet Chilli, Honey Garlic and Hot Sauce.
In preparation, the updated wings are tossed in a bowl with tongs to coat each individually. Also, with the purchase of any whole pizza, the wings are priced at 50 cents each in orders of 10, 20 or 30 pieces.
The launch comes after a successful test run in Hamilton, Ontario, units this fall.
"We had great success with our new wings when we tested them in the Hamilton market at the end of 2010," said Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer for Pizza Pizza Limited. "We always want to offer our customers the best products, which is why we are continuously working to develop new flavours and options."
Pizza Pizza originally introduced chicken wings to its menu in the early 1990s.
The chain is looking for feedback on the new wings through its Facebook page and through Twitter.
