That little darling of the alternative pizza crust world — cauliflower —has landed in Canada at Pizza Pizza. It has created a cauliflower crust, a news release said. For customers, that means they can actually order the pizza without a shred of toppings and still get two full servings of vegetable in every 12-inch pie.
"Pizza Pizza has always been a consistent innovator and we know consumers are on the hunt for trend-worthy meals that help them incorporate more vegetables into their diet," Pizza Pizza CEO Paul Goddard said in the release. "It (offers) consumers the perfect healthier alternative they've been looking for in a pizza, without T on taste."
The brand said its veggie-based crust has a similar texture to its regular dough crust. The medium-sized pies can either be ordered custom or either a Cauli Pesto or Cauli Blanca pizza. The first variation has pesto sauce as a base, along with mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, spinach and Italiano blend seasoning. The Blanca has an olive oil base, mozzarella cheese, artichokes, grilled zucchini, roasted garlic, Parmesan cheese and Italiano blend seasoning.
Pizza Pizza has more than 750 locations across Canada operating as QSRs under the Pizza Pizza and Pizza 73 names.
