February 10, 2009
TORONTO -- To assist families in spending more quality time together this Family Day, Canadian pizza chain Pizza Pizza has partnered with leading financial coach and chartered accountant Robin Taub to provide consumers with ideas for fun and affordable activities.
In Canada, Family Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February, coinciding with Presidents Day in the United States.
Taub's tips will be available through Pizza Pizza's newly designedWeb siteand through the company's in-store circuit television system. In addition to affordable Family Day activities, Taub is also providing consumers with general money saving tips and advice on how they can better manage their personal finances.
In addition to Taub's tips, starting on Family Day, Pizza Pizza is offering two-for-one movie passes from Cineplex Entertainment with select pizza orders.
"Spending time together as a family doesn't have to break the bank," Taub said. "There are a number of activities both indoors and out that families can engage in that not only allow them to spend quality time together, but are also fun and affordable."
Taub's top five affordable Family Day activities this year:
- Skating: Indoor and outdoor rinks exist in most communities in Canada and in most cases are free
- Tobogganing: This is an easy, affordable way for active families to spend some time together outdoors
- Board games: A board game is an easy interactive way to spend some quality time together, especially for families who prefer staying indoors
- A winter bonfire: For families looking to do something unique, consider getting the whole family together for a backyard bonfire complete with roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate. You could also invite your neighbors
- Digital photography: The winter creates beautiful scenery that can serve as a great backdrop for family photos. Getting the family together, finding some prime locations and snapping some shots is an easy way to spend the day together and has the added bonus of capturing memories for years to come
