Pizza Pizza to host Cheese for Charity
September 29, 2008
MONTREAL -- Canadian pizza chain Pizza Pizza will host a special fundraiser on Oct. 21 in participating restaurants across Québec and Ontario in support of Children's Miracle Network and its seven affiliated children's hospital foundations in the two provinces. The fundraiser, named Cheese for Charity Day, is part of the company's plans to celebrate National Pizza Month.
Throughout the day, customers will be invited to purchase selected, discounted pizza items with a portion of proceeds going to children's hospitals through Pizza Pizza's own Slices for Smiles Foundation, a private foundation created in 2007 to help support children's causes throughout the country. Pizza Pizza raised more than $75,000 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters through its Slices for Smiles fundraising efforts in October 2007 and hopes to meet or exceed this goal for this October's campaign. To achieve this, Pizza Pizza - in addition to hosting its Cheese for Charity Day - will be deploying in-store donation boxes at all traditional restaurant locations, providing a corporate donation of $12,000 and contributing through other promotions. October was first designated National Pizza Month in 1987 by the U.S. Congress. Canada has celebrated Pizza Month since 2005.
