Sbarro to get a fresh start in new Ohio home

June 4, 2014

Sbarro announced this week that it is moving its headquarters from Melville, N.Y., to Columbus, Ohio, as it emerges from bankruptcy protection. The pizza chain filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in March, its second such filing in three years. In 2013, David Karam was named as CEO.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Karam is also an owner of a large Wendy’s franchisee. Wendy’s is also headquartered in the Columbus area.

Since 2013, Sbarro has been experimenting with a new fast casual concept called Pizza Cucinova, which made its debut in Columbus and has since expanded to two locations in the market.

The Dispatch also reported a similar trial concept from the company, called Sbarro Brooklyn Fresh.
