Greely Tribune: An odd call for pizza and an even stranger delivery attempt resulted in the recovery of a checkbook that a couple was using illegally.
when Anna Schwabe, the manager of a Papa John's in Greely, Colo., received a call for pizza at 9 a.m. on a recent Sunday, she became suspicious. Told to call back at 10, the customer did and ordered about $40 worth of food -- without asking what it would cost. The customer was ordering from a hotel, Schwabe said, but he claimed he didn't have a room number because he was checking in just then.
When driver Scott Kehn attempted to make the delivery, the customer rushed to meet him outside and tried to give Kehn a check from a company called Affordable Secure Storage.
"He didn't even let me get out of the car," Kehn said.
