Simple Simon's Pizza donates 3,500 backpacks to schools

TULSA, Okla. — J&H Foods, parent company of 230-unit Simple Simon's Pizza and CheeZies Pizza, donated more than 3,500 backpacks in August to more than 40 local schools and non-profit organizations during the month of August throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas.
 
In a news release, the company said its core business is in rural communities and it wanted to give to schools in those areas. "(W)e are able to make a big impact in these small community schools," said B.J. Dumond, owner and chief executive of Simple Simon's Pizza. The company also gave out vouchers for free medium pizzas.
 
Most of the backpacks were distributed directly to the schools, but others are desitned for local non-profit organizations specializing in providing school supplies for needy children.
