Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, McDonald's, Domino's. driving restaurant sector sales growth through year's end

Technomic today released its Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report 2018 Forecast indicating that for those leading 500 chains, sales will grow 3.2 percent by year's end, according to a news release.

This report found that after dropping 3 percent last year, cumulative sales growth for the leading 500 restaurant brands should grow modestly by the end of 2018, with much of that coming from QSR chains, particularly Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A, McDonald's and Domino's.

"We're seeing some major movement within the top 10 chain rankings based on our 2018 projections," Technomic Managing Principal Joe Pawlak, said in the release. "Several growth players that we've been watching over the past couple of years are starting to encroach upon chains that are struggling to overcome branding and operational challenges."

Other significant trends include:
•    End of yearly double-digit growth in fast-casual, though sales remain strong.
•    Marginal improvement in full-service sales this year.
