Toppers takes on hunger

Toppers Pizza is going all in to fight hunger with an event from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27 at all locations to benefit Feeding America by feeding a pizza bargain to lots of hungry customers, according to a news release. 

Diners can carry out a medium single-topping pizza for $4.99, with each sale giving $2 to Feeding America.

"With more than 70 locations spanning 12 states, we have the potential to feed hundreds of families in need," Toppers Founder and CEO Scott Gittrich said in a news release. "This is the first time we’re doing a one-day event like this that’s hyper-focused on the individual efforts of our local stores, and we believe this is a simple way to make a great impact on the lives of families throughout the country."

Over the past five years, Toppers has raised $250,000 for Feeding America, which provides 2 million meals. The charity has become a focal point for the chain which has held everything from Topperstix-eating contests to special menu promotions to benefit the organization's work.
