Former Godfather's Pizza CEO and Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is who U.S. President Donald Trump said he will nominate to fill a vacant spot on the Federal Reserve Board. Cain is often credited with turning the pizza chain around, and Trump told NPR that he would "do very well there."
Cain was chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and also ran unsuccessfully for president in 2012. He pulled out of that race following allegation he sexually harassed women and cheated on his wife, which he denied. Trump suggested those old claims would not disqualify Cain from a Fed post.
"He's doing some pre-checking now and I would imagine he'd be in great shape," the president said.
Cain also is credited with a sales-improving initiative at Burger King before going to Godfather's, which he later bought, then sold to run for president.
