Earlier this week, it was Domino's in New York City announcing that it would hire 200 new people. Now, Pizza Hut has joined the effort, but this time for a much, much larger number — 11,000 positions open across the Yum Brand's system. Both hirings come as these major pizza delivery outlets face one of their biggest business days of the year on Feb. 5, Super Bowl Sunday.
In a news release, Pizza Hut said the 11,000 spots it's seeking to fill are mostly at corporate-owned stores nationwide and include positions for everything from pizza-makers and drivers to managers..
"We're committed to improving the overall customer experience. This starts with our restaurants recruiting top talent and training team members to perform at their absolute best," Pizza Hut Human Resources Senior Director Kelly McCulloch said in a news release.
Pizza Hut said it launched a program in 2015 that pays up to 50 percent of the tuition for employees and their families at Excelsior College, which also provides similar services to Taco Bell employees, as part of a wide-ranging engagement and retention program. Both brands being to the Yum Brands family, which also includes KFC. Like Taco Bell, Pizza Hut said it plans to expand greatly in coming years, though no number of specific additional locations was provided.
Meanwhile, at Subway, local media around Milford, Connecticut, where the company has its headquarters, have reported that the corporate offices are seeking to add more than 150 people in fairly short order. The company told the New Haven Register that it has already added team members at headquarters to fill roles in digital marketing, technology, restaurant operations, guest care and public relations, in line with the company's previously announced focus on the digital space.
According to the article, Subway has recently hired a customer engagement director, as well as directors of global public relations and restaurant operations. Both departments are now seeking additional team members.
