Uncle Maddio's moves into Tampa area

October 28, 2016

Uncle Maddio's Pizza is opening the first of five Tampa-area restaurants in the metro area town of Lutz today on Van Dyke Road in the Northgate Square Shopping Plaza. Tomorrow, the new site will give free pizza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. when guests can get a free 9-inch, three-topping pizza.

The location is also holding a Facebook Privy Day today, which offers guests a free pizza code and details about an event on Sunday, where youngsters can eat free all day at a Halloween celebration, including face painting and balloon twisting.

The Lutz site is owned and operated by retired Diebold Division Vice President Mike Mateo and his wife, Ada. According to a news release, the couple wanted to enrich their community by mentoring young people and playing a part in the local restaurant community.

"As residents of Lutz for 15 years, we wanted our first restaurant to be located in our hometown," said Ada Mateo, Uncle Maddio's Tampa franchisee. "We chose the location for its proximity to Publix, where most Lutz residents shop, and believe the area is in need of a great fast casual, create-your-own pizza restaurant. We love Uncle Maddio's and think our neighbors will as well."

"There is a lot of opportunity for fast casual pizza in Tampa, and we will have more locations coming soon," said the chain's founder and CEO Matt Andrews.
