Unlocked door enables pizza shop robbery

December 10, 2002

MILLVILLE, N.J. -- An unlocked door at a Millville Pizza Hut helped two armed robbers steal $1,200 from the store on Dec. 9.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, the robbers forced one employee at gunpoint to open the store's safe.

Millville Police said that the Pizza Hut's door was open because an employee had left the building to warm up his car. He did not lock the door after returning to the restaurant, providing the robbers easy entry.

The robbers fled the scene in the employee's idling car and abandoned it minutes later in a shopping center parking lot.
