West Virginia pizzeria crowdsources for new name

May 1, 2012

A Fayetteville, W. Va., pizzeria is hosting a contest to come up with a new name as it plans for expansion.

According to the Register-Herald, Pies and Pints pizzeria faces possible trademark conflicts if it opens outside of West Virginia.

The business' owners are hosting a contest online to come up for something "edgy, hip, unique and different." If they choose a crowdsourced name, the winner will receive a free large pizza once a week for a full year. The contest runs through May 9.

Pies and Pints currently has locations in Fayetteville and Charleston, W. Va.

In the fall of 2011, co-owners Kim Shingledecker and David Bailey partnered with two others to grow the brand outside of the state. The group is considering Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Nashville, Tenn.
