ANN ARBOR, Mich.—Domino's Pizza is hoping to spur typically flat Monday sales with a promotion tied to its cosponsorship of NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver, Michael Waltrip's #15 Chevrolet racer.
According to a news release, if Waltrip wins or finishes in the top 10 during any of the remaining 2004 races, customers who ask for the "Waltrip Special" will receive $5 off any large menu priced pizza on the Monday after the race.
Domino's is the official pizza of NASCAR and a cosponsor on Waltrip's car.
Waltrip posted one win and 11 top-10 finishes in 2003, but his 2004 season is off to a rough start with finishes of 38th and 33rd in the first two of the year's 36 races.
"We plan to celebrate Michael's success in a way only Domino's can, by offering customers a unique and special pizza deal each week throughout the season," Domino's executive vice president, Ken Calwell.
