World Pizza Champions star in Food Network special

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. — The World Pizza Champions will star in their own Food Network Special, Challenge: Pizza Champions.

 

According to a news release, the event showcases the talents of the four founding WPC team members, who go head to head in a battle at the Mall of America in Minneapolis. The contest includes attempts to get into the Guinness World Book of Records by competing in the highest toss, largest spin, and most rolls across the shoulders.

 

A fourth competition tests their pizza-making skills as they each have 10 minutes to assemble a gourmet pizza using none of America's top 10 ingredients. The pizzaiolo who accumulates the most points gets $10,000.

 

The contest will air at the following times: Oct. 12, 9 p.m. EST/PST; Oct. 13, 12 a.m. EST/PST; Oct. 14, 10 p.m. EST/PST; Oct. 15, 1 a.m. EST/PST; and 7 p.m. EST/PST.
