Zume attracts $375M ... and counting

November 5, 2018

Robotically made pizza is attracting a lot of cash lately, at least if the brand is Zume, which has netted a $375 million investment from Japanese holding company, SoftBank, according to numerous reports, including Forbes, which said that the revenue infusion dwarfs all previous venture capital funding for the brand.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the story, announcing that SoftBank is expected to plunge $750 million into Zume at a valuation of $2.25 billion, before all is said and done. Forbes 'analysis of the deal suggests the investment is not just about pizza tech, but about food prep tech in general.

SoftBank has previously put its money into other food-related concepts, like DoorDash, Uber Eats and some autonomous vehicles, Forbes reported.
