Commodities: Are wheat prices coming back up?

After wheat has fallen steadily for several weeks, it is up 2 cents.

After wheat has fallen steadily for several weeks, it is up 2 cents, while cheese prices remain flat.

Here's a look at the rest of the markets. 

Cheese

Average block cheese prices remained flat compared to the previous week on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The rest of the prices were $1.74 Monday, $1.72 Tuesday, $1.71 Wednesday, $1.76 Thursday and $1.75 Friday.

Wheat

Wheat prices increased 2 cents this week, hitting $5.25 on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.

Gasoline and diesel fuel

Monday's nationwide average for regular unleaded gasoline was $2.59, up 6 cents from $2.65 the previous week, according to AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

Prices are also down from $2.76 a month ago, and are significantly lower than this time last year, when consumers were paying $3.48 at the pump.

Mid-range unleaded is $2.86, while Monday's premium unleaded price was $3.06.

The nationwide average for diesel fuel is $2.68, a drop of 5 cents from a week ago. Diesel prices are also down from $2.83 a month ago, and are more than $1.00 down from a year ago, when prices were $3.83.

Natural gas

Natural gas prices declined at most markets last week. The Henry Hub spot price fell from $2.90 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) last week to $2.86/MMBtu Sunday.

Pizza company stocks

Shares in Pizza Hut parent Yum! Brands Inc. closed Friday at $87.61, a 15-cent drop from last Friday’s $87.76. Shares have dropped nearly $4 from four weeks ago when they closed at $90.46.

Domino's finished last week at $113.43, remaining flat from last week, but up from two weeks ago when prices were $110.96.

Papa John's dropped significantly to $71.95 from last week’s $75.56.

Shares in Papa Murphy’s closed at $20.04 Friday, up from last week’s $19.30. Three weeks ago it closed at $20.15.
