Pizza summit to cover modern business models

Sessions to focus on reducing turnover, saving on inventory costs and ways to succeed with local marketing.

April 29, 2009

Pizzeria operators can longer operate profitably while facing 150 percent turnover rates, a week's worth of inventory sitting in the cooler and an absence of local marketing. That's one of the messages of the first Pizza Executive Summit.

The theme of the summit, to be held June 8-9 at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, is "Evolution of the Modern Pizza Business." The invitation-only event is free to qualified attendees.

Several sessions at the summit will address issues such as out-of-control turnover rates and offer solutions for operators.

"Industry estimates are that it costs at least $1,500 to replace an hourly employee, when you add in training time, lost productivity and the potential for dissatisfied customers," said Paul Barron, executive vice president of NetWorld Alliance, the organizer of the Pizza Executive Summit. "A 30-person operation running 150 percent turnover could potentially be leaving more than $45,000 on the table each year."   NetWorld Alliance is the publisher of PizzaMarketplace.com.   The summit will be structured around a series of four collaborative sessions. Each session will last 90 minutes and consist of a specific topic followed by a small group discussion.   Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the upcoming Pizza Marketplace Industry Study, valued at $595. The study includes information about the top pizzeria chains around the country, an overview about trends in commodities prices, commentaries from industry experts and the results of an in-depth operator survey.
Sponsorships for the Pizza Executive Summit are still available. Click here for more information about becoming a sponsor.
