'5 more pints a keg': Speedline partnership holds big potential savings for pizza brands

Data insights and consumer engagement company, BeerBoard, has partnered with pizza POS provider, SpeedLine, to give pizza brands better efficiency and more advanced POS capabilities, a news release said. SpeedLine specializes in both point of sale and the specific needs of pizza restaurateurs for inventory management, which can be complicated by many pizza brands' dynamic menu.  

"With create-your-own pizzas and half-and-half portions, there's no such thing as a standard recipe for every menu item, so the point of sale system has to calculate inventory on the fly," SpeedLine Marketing Manager Jennifer Wiebe, said in the release. "Add a bar, and you have another layer of complexity for inventory management in the pizzeria."

BeerBoard and its SmartBar platform generate real-time insights, trend-driven analytics and integrated inventory for bars and restaurants. SmartBar is a patented technology which generates real-time data and insights for operators and brewers. Retailers benefit from data on pour-volumes and inventory management for its draft beer category. 

As an example of the perks this partnership offers, consider that on average, the yield from a keg of beer is 78 percent. Using BeerBoard's data-driven technology, clients yield an average of 95 percent and sell five more pints from each keg.

Wiebe said that the new integration will help clients which offer a selection of draft beers because it offers better insights into their bars' performance. BeerBoard's client list includes high-profile independent groups and major chain operators across North America, including industry leaders Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, Twin Peaks, Applebee's, Mellow Mushroom and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. It also provides data and insights to major brewers Lagunitas, Heineken, Stone Brewing and Magic Hat.
