&Pizza circles Pi Day to 'put a ring on it'

That day every year when the pizza industry hijacks a celebration of the mathematics behind the circumference of a circle — i.e., Pi Day — this year brings a return of love to the late winter air.

This year, &Pizza will again transform stores into pop-up wedding chapels on March 14 to host "complimentary" ceremonies complete with pizza, champagne, celebratory décor, flowers, and officiant, according to a news release.

This all started in 2015 at the brand's U Street shop in Washington, D.C. But this year the event will involve four locations, including the D.C. Chinatown store, Philadelphia's Walnut restaurant, Fed Hill in Baltimore and the NoMad store in New York City.

Why weddings? It's all part of the brand mission and commitment to the values of unity and oneness that &Pizza was founded on in 2012, a news release said. And why announce it now, so long before the March 14 quasi-holiday? Well, so those couples planning to make the big commit can apply online for a spot in the wedding lineup, or send an email to connect@andpizza.com for more information.
