HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Pizza and microbrew specialist BJ's Restaurants has set a goal to raise $1 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation through sales of its Pizookie dessert.
According to a news release, the 30-unit chain plans to donate $1 from every sale of 1 million Pizookies — a freshly baked cookie topped with ice cream, chunks of chocolate and macadamia nuts. BJ's has donated to the CFF in the past through its Cookies for Kids program.
BJ's co-CEO Paul Motenko's daughter was diagnosed with the debilitating ailment as an infant, but has lived with it for nearly 18 years.
