California Pizza Kitchen Inc. raised $52,993.28 from a recent two-day fundraiser to help support disaster relief efforts for those who have been affected by the April Alabama tornadoes.
Funds were raised at two participating Birmingham-area CPK restaurants, with 100 percent of all dine-in sales going toward the Mid Alabama American Red Cross to support those efforts.
The chain's co-founder and co-CEO Rick Rosenfield will be traveling from California with his wife Esther (Graffeo) Rosenfield, a Birmingham native, to personally deliver the check on May 25.
"We are truly moved by the community's response to our fundraiser and are thrilled to be able to raise nearly $53,000 for the victims of the Alabama tornado," said Rosenfield and Larry Flax, co-founders and co-CEOs of California Pizza Kitchen, in a joint statement. "This cause was close to our hearts and we are pleased to be presenting the check to the Mid Alabama Red Cross."
