Domino's Pizza promo backfires in Baltimore

Baltimore Business Journal: BALTIMORE — Unload your Orioles fan gear, get a free pizza!

That's the deal Domino's Pizza is offering customers in Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia. To celebrate D.C.'s new baseball team, Domino's is offering a free medium one-topping pizza to all who bring in Baltimore Orioles shirts, caps and other goodies. Domino's will donate the merchandise to a children's charity in Baltimore.

But as the masses tramp in with their O's seat cushions, Domino's may realize it has overlooked a key factor: the bitterness of D.C.'s overlooked, under-loved neighbor to the north.

By midweek, O's fans on Internet message boards had caught wind of the promotion — and many proclaimed it cheesy.
