Employee training goes mobile

March 6, 2014

Training restaurant employees on their phones is a possibility now that Schoox, a social eLearning training platform designed by Red Book Connect, has its own app. The app, available on iOS and Android, has a single sign-on through HotSchedules, Red Book Connect's employee scheduling and communication app that allows users to build and use customizable e-learning academies via the web and mobile app, said Larry Abramson, CEO of Red Book Connect.

"We're excited to be the first to market with an e-Learning app available via a single sign-on and it is further proof of our commitment to freeing our restaurant customers and their employees from the tether of PCs to let them do their job from anywhere at any time," he said in a company press release.

Schoox allows customers to create their own branded training academy, convert existing training documents to online courses, upload files, videos and web content, assign training criteria by jobs or store locations, track employee progress with a reporting dashboard and add professional third-party training content to their academy by dragging and dropping, said Abramson, who pointed out that 67 percent of the company's users are mobile only, and its mobile usage is eight times that of desktop usage.

"We are adding approximately 100,000 new users per month and most of those are mobile users," Abramson said. "By providing this free app, we are enabling managers and employees to continue their training and development on their own time, at their own pace from virtually anywhere."
