Flippin’ Pizza brings the madness for March

San Diego-based Flippin’ Pizza is inviting the community to celebrate March Madness with its Create-A-Pie contest.

The contest, which takes place throughout the month at the company’s North County stores in Carlsbad, La Costa, Encinitas and Vista, offers customers the chance to submit their pizza creations on Flippin’ Pizza’s Facebook fan page.

“Referees” from the company will post the top 16 Create-A-Pie picks on March 17 before the competition begins March 18.

Flippin’ Pizza fans will be able to move their favorite choices to the next round by “liking” the creations on the Facebook page. Voting will take place every game day and new brackets will be announced the subsequent week.

The Final Four pies will be chosen by Flippin’ Pizza referees and will be announced at a live in-person “Tweet-Up” with the Flippin’ Pizza Food Truck. Fans will be given a chance to try each of the final four pies and then vote online or in-person for their favorites.

The March Madness winning pie will be announced and featured in local Flippin’ Pizza stores beginning April 4.

A breakdown of the game dates is as follows:

• Saucy Sixteen – March 18 and March 19
• Enticing Eight – March 26
• Flippin’ Final Four – April 3
• Crowned Champion – In stores, April 4
