Fried pizza concept coming to NYC

La Montanara by Forcella is scheduled to open March 28 in the Lower East Side neighborhood of New York City. According to Eater NY, it will be the first concept in the city where all of the pizzas are fried.

The concept is the brainchild of Italian pizzaiolo Giulio Adriani, who first introduced a fried-then-baked creation at his other restaurant Forcella.

The menu at La Montanara by Forcella will include four fried pies including the classic montanara (sauce, mozzarella, basil and parmesan), and pizzas topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, and just sauce and garlic.

There will also be appetizers such as fried rice balls, potato croquettes and fried noodles with ham and béchamel sauce. The dessert menu includes a fried Nutella pizza, as well as pizza strips with Nutella and sugar.

The pizzas sell for $6-$8 (special pizzas are $11), while small bites are listed between $2 and $4, and desserts are $4. All of the pizzas are "lightly fried in sunflower oil and finished in the oven." The concept also produces its own Mozzarella, according to the menu.
