Introducing ... wait for it ... the 'Pizza-Kini'
The Independence Day weekend has the U.S. preoccupied with thoughts of cookouts, fireworks and now ... the Pizza-Kini.
Thanks to QSR pizza brand, Villa Italian Kitchen, the July 4th could be overshadowed by July 5th, National Bikini Day, when the chain will offer a one-day-only special — handmade, personalized bikinis, made entirely of pizza, a news release said.
For $10,000, anyone with the money and the inclination can order a custom-tailored, entirely edible bikini accessorized with the buyer's choice of toppings, including — for that "itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny [reddish] polka-dot bikini" effect — pepperoni rounds.
New York City food stylist Jessie Bearden will craft Villa Italian Kitchen's wearable pies, which will feature hand-braided homemade dough at the top and waist with an overlay of whole milk mozzarella and sauce. The "wearer" will purchaser receive personalized a preconstruction and post-baking fitting of the slice-able suit.
"This summer, we wanted to celebrate items that Americans truly love," Villa Italian Communication and Digital Marketing Director Mimi Wunderlich said in the release. "After a few brainstorming sessions, and with assistance from our talented food stylist, Jessie Bearden, the Pizza-Kini was born. We look forward to providing this unique style to the pizza- and bikini-loving public this summer — we are confident it will be a hit."
But how will it hold up in the pool?
