The people who brought you pizza in a cone, Kono USA , are spreading out into that all-American spread of choice, peanut butter. In a news release, Kono said it will now offer PB&J cones starting Dec. 1. The new offering comes in a kid-sized cone that cooks for 3 minutes before being layered with peanut butter and jelly, and topped with a dollop of grape jelly, according to the release.
"Most of us grew up with traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on white bread," David Ragosa, co-founder of Kono USA, said in the release. "We thought it was high time for a new spin on this all-time favorite. What better way to do that than with our portable and delicious snack cones?"
The chain has existing locations in New Jersey, Florida, Texas and South Carolina, as well as 60 more in varying stages of development. Additional mall kiosks are set to open by year-end in Baltimore, Dallas and San Diego.
Through a partnership with Ghirardelli, Kono USA also recently added new sweet cone options, pairing the premium chocolate with fillings to create concoctions such as triple chocolate, coco-nutty, caramel nut and white chocolate-raspberry.
